A Place to Begin

The smell of sweet vanilla. The feeling of flour between my fingers. The taste of sweet frosting you sneak while Grandma's not looking. The radio filling up the background with classic Christmas tunes. I think you could guess by now one of my favorite traditions: Christmas cookies.

As I approach graduation, I've been reflecting on the last six years of my degree. College leaves little room to slow down. There is always another club to join, another project to work on, and more professional opportunities to pursue.
I’ve loved my educational experience beyond words, and I thrive in busy seasons. But as I’ve gotten older, the pull to slow down, to return to something simpler, has grown heavier on my heart.

Writing has always been the way I come back to myself. It helps me slow down, notice small things, and be present in moments that would otherwise pass too quickly.
This space is an extension of that practice: a place to collect thoughts on home, food, seasons, and the everyday rituals that make life feel full.

I’m learning that simplicity doesn’t mean doing less. It means doing what matters, with intention. Returning to familiar recipes. Setting the table even on ordinary days. Making space for traditions that anchor us, no matter how busy life becomes.
I’ll add to this place slowly, sharing when something feels worthy of holding onto. When a season changes, a recipe becomes a favorite, or a moment tugs gently at my heart.
I hope this feels like a place you can return to,
a quiet corner,
a familiar kitchen,
something warm waiting in the oven.
